Jamel Oliver Killed in North Highlands Crash on Elkhorn Boulevard 

North Highlands, California (March 15, 2023) – Jamel Tyrone Oliver, 32, was fatally hit by a vehicle on Monday night in North Highlands, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

The crash happened on Elkhorn Boulevard at Butterball Way at about 11:15 p.m. March 13. 

The California Highway Patrol said Oliver was trying to cross the street when a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Elkhorn Boulevard struck him.

 Oliver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, identified as Ilya Shamailov, 32, of Brooklyn, New York, was hospitalized with minor injuries and was later booked into the Sacramento County Jail for suspected DUI.

A passenger in the Corvette was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
