A BMW X3 traveling in the southbound lanes struck Valenzuela, who was riding a bicycle near the mouth of Sweetwater River
National City, CA.- The bicyclist who was killed in a car accident in National City last week on Wednesday morning has been identified as Israel Valenzuela, 28, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
The crash was reported shortly before 1 a.m. August 6, on Interstate 5 near Mile of Cars Way.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a BMW X3 traveling in the southbound lanes struck Valenzuela, who was riding a bicycle near the mouth of Sweetwater River.
Valenzuela was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The CHP said alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
