Man Killed in Cajon Valley Accident on SR 138
Cajon Valley, California (January 18, 2023) – A man from Hesperia was killed in a two-vehicle collision early Wednesday morning in Cajon Valley, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck happened on SR 138, near milepost marker 19.00 and Summit Post Office Road at around 4:21 a.m.
CHP said a blue Ford Explorer and a 2001 Dodge 1500 were involved.
The Dodge was reportedly traveling east when it lost control and went up the dirt hillside. It then overturned on the roadway and was hit by the Ford.
The driver of the Dodge was ejected.
The Dodge driver, identified as a 39-year-old Hesperia man, died in the incident.
One other person was taken to a hospital with critical injuries.
The crash caused a closure of Highway 138 in both directions as authorities investigated the wreck. The CHP is investigating the collision.
