Gurjot Kaur Dies in Stanislaus County Collision on Highway 4

Stanislaus County, California (February 28, 2023) – Gurjot Kaur, 21, of Stockton, was among two people killed in a head-on collision on Monday morning in Stanislaus County, according to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office.

The incident happened on Highway 4 just west of Dunton Road at around 6:40 a.m. February 27.

Authorities said Kaur was driving a Honda sedan eastbound on the highway when she tried to overtake a vehicle ahead of her and collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota pickup driven by Rudy Mercado, 51, of Copperopollis.

Both drivers died in the accident.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
