Sutter County, California (April 28, 2023) – The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office has identified two people who were killed in a car crash in Chico on Wednesday evening.

According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on State Route 99 near Oswald Road at around 8:39 p.m.

74-year-old Gregory Allen Wood was driving a 2016 Toyota Tacoma northbound on Highway 99 when he drifted into the opposite lane and collided head-on with an oncoming 2016 Toyota RAV4 driven by 69-year-old Alicia Del Carmen Escobar.

Escobar and Wood were killed in the accident.

Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

There were no other occupants in either vehicle.
