Oro Grande, California (January 3, 2023) – Gabriel Navarro has been identified as the driver who was killed in a collision involving a police cruiser in San Bernardino on Christmas Day.

At around 9:18 p.m. on December 25, the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a traffic collision on National Trails Highway at Hibiscus Street.

Navarro was driving a Chevrolet Impala southbound on National Trails Highway when he collided with a police cruiser traveling northbound on National Trails Highway.

The impact of the collision caused the Impala to overturn several times and burst into flames.

Navarro was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The 25-year-old officer was extricated from the departmentally issued Ford Expedition by Good Samaritans before being airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

More details about the wreck were not released.

An investigation into the Oro Grande crash is underway.
