
Fresno, CA.- A man died in a single-vehicle crash that happened on Highway 99 in Fresno on Wednesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred in the southbound side of the highway just south of Highway 180 at about 10:30 p.m. December 3, 2025.
According to the CHP, a man driving a black Nissan Sentra on southbound Highway 99 made an unsafe turn and drifted off the roadway. The truck crashed into an overhead sign pole and its engine block was sent flying onto passing vehicles.
Three vehicles struck the engine block and minor injuries were sustained.
Emergency crews performed life-saving measures on the driver of the Nissan, before transporting him to a hospital, where he was declared deceased at about 11 p.m.
The southbound lanes of Highway 99 were shut down as authorities worked to clear the scene. It's unclear whether impairment played a role in the incident. The CHP is handling the investigation.
