1 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in Tempe Car Crash near Country Club Way and Southern Avenue

Tempe, Arizona (March 13, 2023) – One person died, and two others were seriously injured in a fiery two-vehicle collision that happened Sunday afternoon in Tempe.

Tempe police said the incident occurred just after 5 p.m. near Country Club Way and Southern Avenue.

Two vehicles collided for unknown reasons, causing one to catch fire. First responders found the car fully engulfed in flames.

One person died in the accident.

Two others were hospitalized with severe injuries, and a fourth person was also hospitalized as a precaution.

Power lines were also destroyed in the accident.

Police said one of the cars may have been speeding prior to the accident.

The intersection remained closed during an investigation.
