1 Killed in Contra Costa Car Crash on Highway 4 at Interstate 680

Contra Costa, California (May 18, 2023) – One person was killed after a two-car accident on Highway 4 in Contra Costa Thursday evening.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck happened on eastbound Highway 4 just East of Interstate 680 at around 5:52 p.m.

For unknown reasons, two vehicles collided in the area.

One person sustained fatal injuries in the collision.

A SigAlert was issued, blocking lanes 1 and 2 of the roadway.

More details were not provided.

An investigation is underway.
