Erlinda Young Killed in Chula Vista Accident on Telegraph Canyon Road

Chula Vista, California (May 17, 2023) – Erlinda Young, 86, has been identified as the woman killed in a Monday afternoon car accident in Chula Vista, the Chula Vista Police Department said.

The crash occurred on Telegraph Canyon Road and Old Telegraph Canyon Road on Monday, May 15.

Police said a Ford F-150 was heading east on Telegraph Canyon Road when it collided with a Honda Odyssey that was making a left turn from Old Telegraph Canyon Road.

The Honda was pushed into the sidewalk while the Ford rolled onto its side.

Young was the driver of the Honda. Authorities said Young and her passenger, an 83-year-old woman, were both rushed to hospital in critical condition and Young succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the Ford, a 24-year-old man, was also taken to the hospital. 

Police said DUI was not suspected to have played a role in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
