1-Month-Old Eloise Perez Killed in Valley Village Accident on 101 Freeway
Valley Village, California (January 19, 2023) – Eloise Sophia Perez, a one-month-old girl from Sylmar, died following a traffic collision in the Valley Village neighborhood of Los Angeles on Monday afternoon, according to the authorities.
The incident took place at about 1:30 p.m. January 16, on the 101 Freeway, near Tujunga Avenue.
A 2018 Land Rover was traveling northbound on 101 Freeway when it was struck by a Kenworth semi-truck that was merging into lane 5.
The impact caused the driver of the Land Rover to lose control and the vehicle rolled multiple times, before crashing into a cement wall.
Eloise was a passenger in the Land Rover and was ejected as it rolled.
She was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The other occupants of the Land Rover, Bobby Perez, 27, and Cynthia Olvera, 26, both from Sylmar, were transported to hospital for treatment.
Perez had moderate injuries while Olvera was treated for major injuries.
The driver of the big rig was identified as Zumaya Gerardo, 67, of Los Angeles.
An investigation into the wreck is ongoing.
