Elderly Man Killed in San Diego Accident on Skyline Drive
San Diego, California (February 11, 2023) – An elderly driver suffered major injuries in a multi-vehicle collision in the Bay Terraces neighborhood of San Diego on Thursday evening, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The wreck happened in the 7200 block of Skyline Drive just before 7 p.m. February 9.
Authorities said a 29-year-old woman was driving a 2009 Ford pickup westbound on Skyline Drive when she failed to stop for a red light and crashed into the side of a 2020 Toyota pickup that was traveling southbound on 100 Sychar Road.
The Ford then entered the eastbound lanes of Skyline Drive and sideswiped a 2019 Lexus sedan.
The driver of the Toyota, a 75-year-old man, sustained broken ribs and sternum, and a collapsed lung. Authorities said the driver was in critical condition.
The driver of the Lexus sustained minor injuries.
It’s unclear whether anyone else was hurt in the incident.
San Diego police are handling the investigation.
