Cottonwood, CA – A male driver was killed after crashing into an 18-wheeler on the 5 Freeway in Cottonwood late Sunday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at around 11:35 p.m. on November 9 on Interstate 5 near Cottonwood Scales.
Investigators revealed that the driver of a gray Honda Civic was traveling southbound on the freeway near the Cottonwood Scales at an unknown speed when they drifted into the southbound Cottonwood Scales lane and collided with the rear of a parked big rig.
The impact sent the Civic to rest under the trailer, killing the driver, who was the sole occupant in the car.
The name of the deceased was not immediately released.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The crash is under investigation.
