1 Killed in Tolleson Car Crash near 83rd Avenue and Buckeye Road

Tolleson, Arizona (April 29, 2023) – One person died in a traffic collision involving a car and a semi-truck that happened Friday night near an intersection in Tolleson, police said.

The wreck took place just before 9 p.m. near 83rd Avenue and Buckeye Road.

According to investigators, a semi-truck traveling westbound on Buckeye Road was stopped at a red light at the intersection.

A car also traveling westbound at a high rate of speed failed to slow down and ended up crashing into the rear of the stopped semi.

The car burst into flames.

Firefighters responded to the scene and put out the flames before pronouncing the driver dead at the scene.

It was not clear if the vehicle had passengers.

The driver of the semi was not hurt.

Police did not immediately determine why the deceased did not stop for the red light.
