Donald Olsson Hurt in Deadly Bakersfield Crash on Irene Street

Bakersfield, California (February 7, 2023) – Donald Justus Olsson, 80, was injured in a crash that left a 15-year-old boy dead in east Bakersfield Saturday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal collision took place in the area of Irene Street and Alta Vista Drive on Saturday, February 4.

According to the report, Timothy Leal, 18, was driving westbound on Irene Street in a stolen Kia Optima when, for unknown reasons, he failed to stop for a stop sign at Alta Vista Drive and crashed with a car that was being driven by Donald Justus Olsson, 80.

The impact caused Olsson’s car to roll over and it came to rest against a house.

The young boy was a  passenger in Leal’s car and he died at the scene.

Olsson suffered minor injuries and was taken to Kern Medical.

Leal was transported to a hospital with major injuries.

He was also arrested on suspicion of DUI, among other charges.

The deadly crash is under investigation
