Destanie King and Michael Collier Killed in Vernonia Car Crash on Highway 74
Vernonia, Oregon (February 21, 2023) – Two people were killed in a car crash that happened in Vernonia last week Friday afternoon.
According to Oregon State Police, the accident happened on Highway 74 near Nowakowki Road at around 3 p.m.
A green 1999 Subaru Legacy wagon driven by 26-year-old Destanie King, of Vernonia, was traveling northbound on Highway 47 when it drifted into the opposite lanes and collided head-on with a red 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon.
King was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
The driver of the Subaru, 65-year-old Claire Colburn-Collier and her passenger, 66-year-old Michael Collier, were transported by air to Legacy Emanuel with life-threatening injuries.
Sadly Michael succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
Additional information about the accident was not provided.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
