Derek McIntosh Hurt in Fatal Willow Creek Collision on Highway 299 

Willow Creek, California (April 22, 2023) – Derek McIntosh, 32, was injured in a fatal head-on collision on Tuesday afternoon in Humboldt County, according to the authorities.

The wreck took place at around 12:40 p.m. April 20, on Highway 299 near mile marker 14.6.

According to the CHP, Emerald West, 21, of McKinleyville, was driving a 2019 Hyundai Tucson east on Highway 299 when she collided head-on with an oncoming Ford F-550 service truck.

The Hyundai then struck a semi-truck.

West and a passenger in her vehicle, a 30-year-old woman, were killed in the crash.

McIntosh was the driver of the Ford and was treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the semi was not hurt.

The CHP is investigating the collision.
