1 Killed, Another Hospitalized After Helendale Train Accident at Jordan and Vista Roads

Helendale, California (April 18, 2023) – One person died in a train versus car accident that happened early Tuesday morning in Helendale, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident took place at about 3:27 a.m. on the tracks near Jordan Road and Vista Road.

A train hit a black Ford Mustang under unclear circumstances.

As per a party reporting the accident, the vehicle was on the side of the tracks with a male driver trapped inside with a dog.

The driver was awake and breathing, but the caller could not help him out because of the dog in the car.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and pronounced one person dead at the scene.

Another person was taken to the trauma center at Antelope Valley Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

The Apple Valley Animal Control Unit also responded and took possession of the dog.

Details about the occupants of the train remained unknown.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.
