Dawn Oviatt Killed in Coos County Crash on Highway 101 near Milepost 242

Coos County, Oregon (May 1, 2023) – Dawn Marie Oviatt, 53, of Gold Beach, has been identified as the man who died in a collision last week Tuesday in Coos County.
The fatal crash happened on Highway 101 near milepost 242 at around 2 p.m. on April 25, according to the Oregon State Police.
Oviatt was driving a Ford Ranger northbound on the highway when he drifted across the centerline and collided head-on with a Ford F350 pickup truck driven by 63-year-old Terry Ray Nighswonger, of Coquille.
Oviatt, a resident of Gold Beach, was pronounced dead at the accident.
Nighswonger was injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The Millington Fire and Oregon Department of Transportation also assisted at the scene.
Additional information about the accident was not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
