Danny Shelton Dies in Fresno County Train Accident on East Conejo 

Fresno County, California (April 20, 2023) – Danny Shelton, 48, of Fresno, has been identified as the man who was killed in a collision involving a vehicle and a train in Fresno County Tuesday evening, according to the Fresno County Coroner.

The wreck took place on East Conejo near Peach Avenue on April 18.

CHP said a Nissan Versa traveling westbound on Conejo went around the downed railroad crossings and was struck by a northbound Amtrak train.

The Nissan was pushed nearly 200 feet up the tracks.

The driver of the Nissan, later identified as Shelton, died at the scene.

His passenger, a 22-year-old Reedley woman, was taken to a hospital, where she also succumbed to her injuries.

None of the 1,300 passengers on the Amtrak train were injured.

The California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the crash.
