Daniel Villasenor Seriously Hurt in Hesperia Crash on Highway 395 

Hesperia, California (May 14, 2023) – Daniel Villasenor, 6, was seriously hurt in a crash that left his mother dead and elder sister also injured on Thursday evening in Hesperia, according to the authorities.

The crash happened on Highway 395, just before 6:31 p.m. May 11.

Authorities said Jose Vargas, 41, of Adelanto, was driving south on the highway when he let his vehicle move into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a westbound vehicle driven by David’s mother Lisette Villasenor, 36, of Victorville.

According to the report, Lisette and Daniel were airlifted to a hospital with major injuries. Lisette was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Daniel’s sister, Ashley Villasenor, 12, had moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Vargas was unhurt and was arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and felony DUI. 

The investigation is ongoing.
