Cynthia Olvera Injured in Valley Village Accident on 101 Freeway
Valley Village, California (January 19, 2023) – Cynthia Olvera, 26, of Sylmar, was hurt in a deadly big rig accident Monday afternoon in Valley Village, according to a report by the authorities.
The incident took place at around 1:30 p.m. January 16, on the northbound 101 Freeway, near Tujunga Avenue.
A Kenworth semi-truck was reportedly trying to merge into lane 5 of the freeway when it collided with a 2018 Land Rover occupied by Olvera, Bobby Perez, 27, of Sylmar, and a one-month-old girl identified as Eloise Sophia Perez.
The Land Rover flipped several times and slammed into a cement wall.
Eloise was ejected and sustained life-threatening injuries. She was taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
Bobby sustained moderate injuries while Olvera had major injuries. The two were taken to a hospital.
The driver of the big rig was identified as Zumaya Gerardo, 67, of Los Angeles.
An investigation into the wreck is ongoing.
