Oceanside, CA – The pedestrian who was hit and killed by a vehicle at about 6:46 p.m. on November 10 at the intersection of Mission Avenue and Francesca Drive has been identified.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner identified the pedestrian as Cesar Contreras, a 59-year-old Oceanside resident.
Investigators said Contreras was walking across the street when an SUV struck him.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Oceanside, CA – A man was struck and killed Monday evening after being hit by a vehicle while crossing a street in Oceanside, according to police.
The fatal collision occurred around 6:46 p.m. near the intersection of Mission Avenue and Francesca Drive.
Authorities reported that a black Chevrolet Tahoe traveling east on Mission Avenue struck the pedestrian.
Despite life-saving measures by first responders, the man died at the scene.
Officials said the driver remained at the location and cooperated with investigators. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been factors in the crash.
The identity of the deceased man is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
The Oceanside Police Department's Accident Investigation Team is investigating the incident.
