Police reported that a vehicle was traveling south on San Pedro Street when it hit Celestino, who was riding a bike eastbound across 95th Street

South LA, CA.- The bicyclist who was killed in a crash with a hit-and-run driver in South Los Angeles early Monday morning has been identified as Celestino Mateo, 61, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office.
At around 1:23 a.m. August 18, the Los Angeles Police Department officers received a call about an accident at South San Pedro Street and East 95th Street.
When officers responded to the scene, they located Celestino, who had apparently been hit by a vehicle while collecting bottles.
Police reported that a vehicle was traveling south on San Pedro Street when it hit Celestino, who was riding a bike eastbound across 95th Street.
Celestino was pronounced deceased at the site of the collision.
According to LAPD, the vehicle involved in the crash is suspected to be a silver Chevrolet Tahoe.
The LAPD officers are investigating the hit-and-run crash.
