Camarillo, California (August 8, 2021) – A bicyclist was hospitalized after being involved in a traffic collision in Camarillo Saturday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.

The bicycle crash happened on Potrero Road near Edison Road at approximately 10:04 a.m.

As per the CHP report, a bicyclist was hit by a vehicle on the eastbound side of the highway near the California State University Channel Islands for reasons still under investigation.

The unidentified bicyclist sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Los Robles Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The crash resulted in the closure of a section of Potrero Road for an unknown time.

Laguna Beach, California (August 8, 2021) – Authorities have identified the motorcyclist who died Saturday night in an alleged DUI crash in Laguna Beach as Stefano Albano, 55, of Corona.

The deadly crash occurred at around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, August 7, near the 2300 block of Laguna Canyon Road, just past Laguna College of Art and Design.

Authorities said Albano was riding his motorcycle on Laguna Canyon Road when he attempted to pass three vehicles in front of him. In the process, a car, driven by Becky Merrifield Ettinger, 68, of Huntington Beach, suddenly made a U-turn in front of him.

Albano’s motorcycle ultimately collided with Ettinger’s vehicle.

Motorcyclist Killed in Laguna Beach Crash Identified as Corona Resident

Albano was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities determined that Ettinger was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident. She was eventually arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Laguna Canyon Road was closed while the investigation took place.

No other details regarding the crash were provided.

The accident remains under investigation.

Fresno County, California (August 8, 2021) – The man who died Saturday afternoon following a three-vehicle crash in Fresno County has been identified as Israel Lara, 60, of Sanger.

According to California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash occurred at around 2:20 p.m. Saturday, August 7, at the intersection of Highway 180 and Oliver Street near Sanger.

CHP said Lara was driving a Ford Escort southbound on Oliver Street and stopped at the intersection.

Lara then pulled out in front of a vehicle that was heading westbound on Highway 180. A Hyundai Tucson, driven by a man in his 40s, ultimately crashed into the driver-side door of the Escort.

A man in his 30s driving a Ford Econoline van westbound on Highway 180 drifted to avoid the Hyundai but ended up colliding with it.

Following the collision, the three vehicles came to a stop on the northwest side of Oliver north of the highway.

Man Killed in Sanger Multi-Vehicle Crash Identified

Lara was declared deceased at the scene.

Other parties in the other two vehicles were transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

It is undetermined whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.

No further details were available.

Authorities are working to determine the cause of the collision.
