Breanna Romero Dies in Watsonville Crash on Holohan Road

Watsonville, California (March 5, 2023) – Breanna Romero was killed in a traffic collision near Watsonville on Saturday night, according to the authorities.

The wreck happened at about 10:22 p.m. March 4, on Holohan and Grimmer Roads.

The California Highway Patrol said Angelica Varon, 38, of Watsonville, was driving a 2007 Volvo XC90 south on Holohan Road when she drifted across the double yellow lines and collided head-on with an oncoming 2015 Hyundai Elantra.

The driver of the Hyundai, identified as Romero, was killed in the incident.

A passenger in the Hyundai, Kianna Hughes, 25, of Moreno Valley, was taken to Natividad Hospital with major injuries.

Varon was also taken to Natividad Hospital with major injuries and was arrested for felony DUI.

A passenger in the Volvo, Jesus Rocha Ayala, 25, of Watsonville, also had major injuries and sought own treatment at Watsonville Community Hospital.

The CHP is handling the investigation.
