El Mirage, Arizona (January 23, 2023) – A 9-year-old boy was critically injured in a multi-vehicle collision that also left eight others hurt Sunday morning in El Mirage, according to El Mirage Police.

The four-vehicle accident occurred at around 10:15 a.m. at Grand Avenue and Thompson Ranch Road.

Police said a car was traveling down Grand Avenue when it struck two other vehicles stopped in traffic. The force of the crash sent one of them into the intersection, where it hit another vehicle.

First responders found one overturned vehicle and another with severe front-end damage.

Nine people were treated at the scene for their injuries. One of them was a 9-year-old boy who was hospitalized in critical condition. The boy, his father, and two other kids occupied the car that rolled over.

At least six others were also hospitalized.

Police said speed might have been a contributing factor.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
