Bobby Perez Hurt in Fatal Valley Village Collision on 101 Freeway
Valley Village, California (January 19, 2023) – Bobby Perez, 27, of Sylmar, was injured in a big rig collision on Monday afternoon in Valley Village, according to the authorities.
The wreck happened at about 1:30 p.m. January 16, on the 101 Freeway, near Tujunga Avenue.
Authorities said a Kenworth semi-truck was merging into lane 5 of northbound 101 Freeway when it struck a 2018 Land Rover.
The Land Rover lost control, rolled multiple times, and crashed into a cement wall.
A one-month-old girl from Sylmar was ejected as the Land Rover rolled. She was rushed to a hospital with major injuries and was later pronounced dead.
The child was identified as Eloise Sophia Perez.
Two other occupants of the Land Rover, Perez and Cynthia Olvera, 26, of Sylmar, were transported to hospital with moderate to major injuries.
The operator of the big rig was identified by the authorities as Zumaya Gerardo, 67, of Los Angeles.
The crash is under investigation.
