Bicyclist Killed in Avondale Crash Involving Two Cars

Avondale, Arizona (February 3, 2023) – A bicyclist died in a collision involving two cars Thursday morning in Avondale, police said.

The accident was reported just before noon on Van Buren Street near Avondale Boulevard.

Police did not immediately give information about how the crash occurred.

The bicyclist died in the crash, and both drivers were hospitalized with minor injuries.

The collision forced the closure of Van Buren in both directions between Avondale Boulevard and 107th Avenue during an investigation.

Police advised those driving to nearby homes to use alternative routes.

Residents of Waterford Square  Community and the Versante Apartments were advised to head eastbound on W Roosevelt Parkway from N Avondale Boulevard and continue southbound at N. 111th Avenue.

Waterford Square residents can enter at N. 111th Avenue and Versante Apartment residents at the East Gate entrance on N. 111th Avenue.
