Rider Killed in Oceanside Bicycle Crash on Douglas Drive

Oceanside, California (March 15, 2023) – A bicyclist was fatally hit by a vehicle in Oceanside on Tuesday evening, according to the Oceanside Police Department.

The incident occurred on Douglas Drive between El Camino Real to Mission Avenue at around 5:19 p.m. March 14.

Police said a man in his 50s was riding a bicycle when a vehicle struck him on Douglas Drive.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the involved vehicle stayed at the scene.

Police arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

The crash is under investigation.
