Baljit Sindhu Hurt in Lassen County Collision on Highway 44
Lassen County, California (March 14, 2023) – Baljit Sindhu, 59, of Elk Grove, was injured in a big rig collision in Lassen County on Monday morning, according to the authorities.
The wreck happened at around 5:35 a.m. March 13, on Highway 44.
The California Highway Patrol said Sindhu was driving a 2020 Freightliner hauling paint west on Highway 44 when the rig jackknifed on an icy curve at the Poison Lake and crashed into a snow embankment.
Shortly after, a 2021 Peterbilt crashed into the stalled freightliner.
Sindhu complained of pain while his passenger, Banjindher Singh, 35, of Elk Grove, had major injuries.
The driver of the second rig sustained minor injuries.
The three patients were taken to the Banner Lassen Medical Center.
The westbound lanes of Highway 44 were shut down as crews worked to clear the scene.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
