Apple Valley, California (January 25, 2023) – An Apple Valley police officer was hurt in a two-vehicle collision that occurred Tuesday morning at an intersection in Apple Valley, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The incident transpired just after 11 a.m. at Flat Head Road and Highway 18.

According to authorities, a gray 2019 Honda CRV and a Ford Explorer were involved in the accident.

The Honda acquired rear-end damage, and the Ford major front-end damage.

Emergency personnel responding to the scene said an Apple Valley School police officer was hurt in the accident. It was not clear if the patient was hospitalized.

Eastbound Highway 18 was shut down following the accident. Traffic was being diverted from the highway onto Outer Highway 18 until 11:45 a.m. after lanes were reopened.
