Alfonso Martinez Jr. Dies, Woman Hospitalized After Head-On Collision on Baseline Road in Buckeye

Buckeye, Arizona (April 25, 2023) – 25-year-old Alfonso Martinez Jr. died, and a woman was hospitalized with critical injuries after their vehicles collided head-on Monday morning in Buckeye, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Three vehicles were involved in the accident at around 6:30 a.m. on Baseline Road west of Turner Road.

According to authorities, Martinez was driving his car on Baseline Road when, for unknown reasons, he collided head-on with a car driven by a woman. A third vehicle was also involved in the collision.

Emergency personnel pronounced Martinez dead at the scene.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she remained in critical condition.

The driver of the third car was not hurt.

Police are investigating the accident.

Another deadly collision was also reported on Monday involving two big rigs and several other vehicles on I-10 between the Toponah community and Buckeye City. That crash left at least one person dead.
