12-Year-Old Aiden Begay Dies After Being Hit by Car near 19th Avenue and Wood Drive in North Phoenix

Phoenix, Arizona (February 19, 2023) – 12-year-old Aiden Begay died after being hit by a car Friday evening in North Phoenix.

Phoenix police said the accident happened at about 6:45 p.m. near 19th Avenue and Wood Drive.

Emergency responders from the Phoenix police and fire departments found the boy lying in the roadway with serious injuries.

The firefighters rushed the child to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The officers said Begay was crossing mid-block across 19th Avenue when the crash occurred.

The driver involved stopped and remained at the scene.

Speed and intoxication did not appear to be factors in the collision.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
