Long Beach, CA – A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed and his passenger was injured after a motorcycle collided with a car in Long Beach Thursday night, the Long Beach Police Department said Friday.
The deadly crash happened about 9:20 p.m. Thursday, July 3 near the intersection of Downey Avenue and South Street.
According to LBPD, the man and his passenger were traveling on a 2008 Honda CBR motorcycle westbound on South Street approaching Downey Avenue, when they were hit by a 2012 Toyota 4Runner. The Toyota was turning left to go northbound on Downey when the crash occurred.
Responding officers found the man in the southbound lanes of Downey Avenue and the woman lying on the west sidewalk near the man.
The male rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was transported by paramedics to a hospital in unknown condition.
No additional information was provided.
The crash is under investigation.
