According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place around 11:40 p.m. on southbound Highway 101 south of Hellyer Avenue.
San Jose, CA. – A relative of an 18-year-old Morgan Hill woman who died in a pedestrian accident that happened Saturday night in San Jose identified her as Emily Hamilton, as per a local news source.
A 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving following the collision.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place around 11:40 p.m. on southbound Highway 101 south of Hellyer Avenue.
Hamilton was driving home from work when her car was rear-ended. She pulled over to exchange information with the other driver but got struck by a second vehicle driven by a 43-year-old Morgan Hill woman.
Hamilton died from the injuries she sustained in the crash.
The 43-year-old woman sustained minor injuries. She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence causing injury.
Hamilton's cousin, Jill Moore, said she graduated from high school in June and was expecting to join business classes at Foothill College.
Investigators partially closed southbound Highway 101 south of Hellyer Avenue until just before 3 a.m. Sunday following the accident.
