Parkland, WA – A woman was killed Wednesday morning in a hit-and-run accident in Parkland, according to the authorities.
The deadly accident happened on October 15 at the intersection of 112th Street South and Ainsworth Avenue South.
Authorities said a Pierce County sheriff's deputy tried to stop a driver who had a Department of Corrections warrant for his arrest at about 9:25 a.m. The vehicle, which had three people inside, drove off at a high rate of speed. It ran a red light and struck another vehicle that was traveling through the intersection on a green light.
The driver, a 47-year-old man, fled the scene on foot. His two passengers, a 48-year-old man in the front seat, and a 36-year-old woman in the back seat, remained in the car. Both passengers were taken into custody and taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 20-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident closed the intersection for a while.
The WSP is investigating the accident.
