Contra Costa County, CA. – 45-year-old Allison Merkle of Walnut Creek died when she was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle Wednesday morning in Alamo, authorities said.
The accident occurred around 11:12 a.m. on Livorna Road under the Interstate 680 overpass.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Merkle was riding a bicycle westbound on Livorna Road, approaching a black Toyota bZ3X parked on the right shoulder of the road.
The man in the Toyota drove into the roadway and struck the bicyclist.
Merkle was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics.
The driver of the car was not hurt and cooperated with investigators.

Contra Costa, CA. – One person was killed in a bicycle accident that happened near Alamo in Contra Costa on Wednesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 11:09 a.m. on Livorna Road near the 680 Freeway.
A black SUV reportedly struck a bicyclist on the roadway in unclear circumstances.
CHP says the bicyclist was killed in the accident.
The identity of the deceased person was not immediately disclosed.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
