12-Year-Old Boy Fatally Hit by Pickup Truck on Camden Avenue in San Jose

, CA. – The 12-year-old boy who was struck and killed by a vehicle while riding a scooter Tuesday afternoon near an intersection in San Jose has been identified as Esias Amaru Ramos-Berhane.

The boy was struck by a pickup truck just before 4:30 p.m. on Camden Avenue near Leigh Avenue in the Cambrian Park neighborhood.

The San Jose Police Department said Ramos-Berhane was crossing the street on a scooter near a crosswalk when he was hit by a 2006 Chevy pickup truck.

The juvenile was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was traveling westbound on Camden and had a green light at the time of the collision.

The motorist remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

A witness of the crash said the boy was with three of his friends when he tried to cross the road. He was the last one and did not make it across.

Westbound Camden Avenue between Leigh and Charmeran avenues was closed for several hours during the investigation.
