Thousand Oaks, CA. – The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the Simi Valley man killed, and another victim injured in a traffic collision Monday afternoon on Olsen Road in Thousand Oaks.
According to a release by the Thousand Oaks Traffic Bureau, the fatal event unfolded at around 4:26 p.m. August 26 on Olsen Road, just west of Hardy Lane.
Responding crews arrived at the scene and found a vehicle that had been rear-ended, lost control and slammed into a tree, before spinning back on to the road.
The second vehicle involved was located 500 feet from the crash site.
77-year-old Bob Frank Ferguson and 62-year-old Duc Trieu were rushed to the hospital, where Ferguson was declared deceased while Trieu remained hospitalized with moderate injuries.

Thousand Oaks, CA. – One person died in a traffic collision that happened Monday afternoon in Thousand Oaks, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office said.
The wreck was reported at about 4:30 p.m. on Olsen Road near Hardy Lane and Highway 23.
A car was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended another vehicle. The second vehicle spun out and hit the center median, while the first car went off the roadway and hit a tree.
VCSO deputies, California Highway Patrol officers, firefighters, and paramedics responded to the scene.
The driver of the vehicle that hit a tree was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
It was unclear if any other person was hurt.
Investigators closed Olsen Road for several hours following the crash. The closure also affected the off-ramp from northbound Highway 23.
