, CA. – 60-year-old Heriberto Rivera from died in a accident that happened Thursday morning in Newark, according to authorities.

The incident took place around 8:30 a.m. in the 38000 block of Cherry Street at Redeker Place.

Police officers said Rivera was riding a bicycle south on Cherry Street in the bicycle lane when a driver turning left from northbound Cherry Street hit him.

Newark police and County firefighters responded to the scene.

Rivera died from injuries he sustained in the crash.

Authorities said the driver stopped after the accident and cooperated with police.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Newark, CA. – Authorities are investigating a bicycle accident that occurred on Thursday morning in Newark.

The deadly collision was reported around 8:30 a.m. in the 38000 block of Cherry Street.

According to a preliminary investigation, the bicyclist was southbound on Cherry in the bicycle lane when he was struck by a car making a left turn into a driveway.

Newark police and Alameda County Fire crews arrived at the scene and tried to save the injured man.

Sadly, the unidentified man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the involved vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

More details about the accident were not immediately available.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
