Tucson, AZ.- The man who was severely injured in an auto-pedestrian collision at an intersection in Tucson earlier this month has succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
According to the Tucson Police Department, Ramon Z. Holguin, 52, was pronounced deceased on Tuesday, December 23, following the incident.
At around 8 p.m. December 11, authorities responded to reports of a collision at the intersection of 29th Street and Alvernon Way.
According to the Tucson police, Holguin was trying to walk across South Alvernon Way when he was hit by a southbound 2014 Chevrolet Impala. Police noted that Holguin was not in a crosswalk at the time and streetlights were not working in the area.
Holguin died of his injuries at Banner University Medical Center.
The involved driver left the scene after hitting the pedestrian but returned shortly after the TPD arrived. The driver, a 27-year-old man, was found to have been impaired, the TPD reported.
The northbound side of Alvernon Way was shut down following the accident. There were no additional details on the crash.
An investigation into the collision is being conducted by the Tucson Police Department.
