68-Year-Old Man Killed in Woodland Crash on Interstate 5 near Kentucky Avenue Overcrossing

Woodland, California (August 16, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Sunday evening traffic accident that killed a 68-year-old Sacramento man and left several other people injured in Woodland.
The deadly head-on collision transpired at about 7:45 p.m., on August 15, on Interstate 5 near Kentucky Avenue overcrossing.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2005 Toyota sedan driven by a 27-year-old Elk Grove woman was headed northbound when it veered off the roadway, across a grass center divider, and crashed head-on into a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck in the southbound lanes.
As a result of the crash impact, the Chevrolet operated by the Sacramento man reportedly caught fire.
The Sacramento man and his passengers, a 51-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy, were trapped in the vehicle.
Man Killed, Three Injured in Crash on Interstate 5
Sadly, the Sacramento man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 51-year-old woman was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries. The boy was hospitalized with minor injuries.
The Elk Grove woman was hospitalized with major injuries.
Traffic on the roadway was stopped for about three hours due to the collision.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
