1 Killed, 3 Injured in Porterville Crash on Highway 65 near Morton Avenue

One Hospitalized after Mendocino County Crash on Highway 101

Porterville, California (August 6, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Friday morning traffic accident that killed one person and left three other parties injured in Porterville.

The deadly accident transpired at about 3:12 a.m. on Highway 65 at Morton Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a big rig driven by a 22-year-old Delano man was headed southbound on the highway approaching Morton Avenue when it crashed into a guardrail, causing damage to the left side diesel tank.

Following the collision, a southbound GMC Sierra driven by a 23-year-old Bakersfield man collided into the left rear of the big rig. A 2003 Honda Accord, a 21-year-old Porterville man, also collided into the big rig.

3 Injured in Fatal Highway 65 Crash

Sadly, the 21-year-old Porterville man sustained fatal injuries in the accident.

The Bakersfield man sustained major injuries and was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia for treatment.

A passenger in the Accord also sustained major injuries and was hospitalized for treatment.

The driver of the big rig sustained minor injuries.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
