Officer Ron Watson Injured in Sonora Crash on Highway 49
Sonora, California (June 21, 2023) – A police officer was injured in a crash with another vehicle on Sunday afternoon in Sonora, according to the authorities.
The wreck happened on Highway 49 north of Shaws Flats Road just after 4 p.m. June 18.
Authorities said Officer Ron Watson was driving northbound on Highway 49 when he activated the code 3 emergency response lights and began to make a U-turn.
The patrol vehicle was hit by an SUV traveling behind it.
Watson sustained a minor head injury and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
No other injuries were reported.
The crash is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
