According to the report, a 61-year-old man was in the crosswalk walking east across 81st Street when he was struck by a vehicle

Los Angeles, CA.- A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle in the Vermont Knolls area on Sunday night, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The accident was reported at about 7 p.m. December 22, on 81st and Hoover streets.

According to the report, a 61-year-old man was in the crosswalk walking east across 81st Street when he was struck by a vehicle.

The pedestrian was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver stayed at the scene and called the authorities.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
