El Cajon, CA. – 31-year-old Michael Alan Lowder Jr. died after he was struck by a truck last week in El Cajon, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office said.
The incident happened around 4:56 a.m. on August 7 in the 5270 block of Dehesa Road.
According to police, Lowder Jr. was standing in the westbound lane of the roadway near Sycuan Casino when he was hit by a Nissan pickup truck heading westbound.
The pickup truck driver stopped after the crash and contacted authorities.
Police officers, firefighters, and paramedics responded to the scene and found the pedestrian suffering from serious injuries. The victim was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The Medical Examiner's Office said Lowder Jr. died at 2:02 p.m. on August 8 while receiving treatment at the facility. His cause of death was listed as multiple blunt force injuries.
Lowder Jr. was homeless at the time of the accident.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
