Pedestrian Critically Injured in Portland Crash on NE Hassalo Street

Portland, OR.- A pedestrian was hit and injured by a suspected DUI driver in the Lloyd District area early Saturday morning, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

The crash took place in the 400 block of NE Hassalo Street just after 2:30 a.m.

A male adult pedestrian was reportedly struck by a vehicle in the area under unclear circumstances.

The victim was rushed to a hospital with critical injuries.

The driver, identified as Isaac Q. Ellis, 47, of Portland, was detained at the scene by witnesses.

Ellis was eventually arrested by authorities and was charged with second-degree assault, reckless driving, DUI, and failure to perform the duties of a driver.

Authorities are investigating the crash.
