Passenger Killed in Eureka Crash near Henderson and I Streets in Eureka

Eureka, California (November 8, 2023) – One person was killed in a rollover crash involving two vehicles near an intersection in Eureka Tuesday afternoon, according to Eureka Police Department (EPD).

The fatal crash was reported at about 12:10 p.m. near the intersection of Henderson and I Streets.

Eureka Police Department and Humboldt Bay Fire (HBF) responded to the scene and located two vehicles involved in the crash with one of the vehicles overturned. A passenger was trapped inside the overturned vehicle.

The trapped passenger sustained fatal injuries in the crash. The driver of the overturned vehicle was hospitalized with minor to moderate injuries.

According to EPD, preliminary investigation showed that the driver of the overturned vehicle was heading northbound on I Street when he ran a stop light at the intersection and struck a vehicle that was westbound on Henderson Street.

Intoxication may have played a role in the crash, according to EPD.

The name of the victim will be released by the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office.
