According to Oakley police, the incident occurred around 6:10 p.m. when police officers were looking for a stolen car in the area of East Cypress Road.

Oakley, CA. – An Oakley police sergeant was injured, and Devon Singleton was arrested, after a crash involving a stolen vehicle that happened Saturday evening on East Cypress Road.
According to Oakley police, the incident occurred around 6:10 p.m. when police officers were looking for a stolen car in the area of East Cypress Road.
The officers spotted the vehicle speeding down Jersey Island Road and deployed spike strips to slow down the car.
The suspect driver kept driving “as fast as his deflating tires would allow him to go.”
Two other officers, including the sergeant, who were at East Cypress Road and Knightsen Avenue by the Valero gas station spotted the erratically driving vehicle in the area which had moderate traffic. The sergeant was concerned about the patrons at the gas station and positioned himself between the gas station and the route where the suspect was driving.
Shortly after, the suspect collided head-on with the sergeant.
Authorities said the sergeant was momentarily trapped but was able to exit his patrol car and arrest the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Devon Singleton.
The sergeant was hospitalized for his injuries and released a few hours later.
An adult female passenger in Singleton's car was also hospitalized for her injuries.
Singleton was airlifted to a hospital for treatment but was eventually released. He was arrested and booked into jail. He faces several charges, including assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, possession of a stolen car, and felony evading.
